Children are able to become active participants in their own learning through using manipulatives. They are able to learn by physically handling and manipulating objects to explore a concept.
So we made an Addition Machine. We used an oval box and two paper rolls. Firstly we painted our box and two paper rolls, secondly we did two holes on the top to introduce our two paper rolls and we only had to write our mathematical symbols.
Now we can pour manipulatives into both paper rolls. Then, we will be able to open the box and find the total number of manipulatives. It is a great visual for addition.
Easy peasy!
